What if while you were attending university, the whole university were transported to a new world. How would you survive? How would you cope? How would you forge new relationships and deal with the memories of those relationships that have been severed? How would this change challenge your presuppositions?
These are the kinds of questions that face university student Dave Schuster and his friends in my new book The Halcyon Dislocation. I have personally loved books in which the protagonist was thrust into a world where in the spirit of Robinson Crusoe, he has to learn how to survive. I think my favourites in this sub-genre are Mysterious Island by Jules Verne, Tunnel in the Sky by Robert Heinlein, and The Song of Albion by Stephen Lawhead.
If you find this interesting, please read the free downloadable chapters and if you have any comments, I would love to hear from you. I am especially interested in any feedback or discussion on the scientific, philosophical, and spiritual aspects of the dislocation discussed in these chapters.
Thanks for reading!
